As the Welding/Fabrication Supervisor, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of our manufacturing facility. Your responsibilities will include managing a team, overseeing production, maintaining safety standards, and ensuring the highest level of quality in our fabrication processes. You will lead by example, fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and excellence. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Leadership: Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of welders and fabricators to achieve production goals and maintain high standards of quality and safety.
Training: Ensure all employees are fully trained on machines and tools before operating them, and document all training activities.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of training, incidents, injuries, and other relevant information in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Safety: Enforce safety protocols and ensure a clean and safe working environment at all times. Report and document any injuries or safety incidents promptly.
Quality Control: Take responsibility for the quality of the fabrication department, ensuring that all products meet approved specifications and standards.
Communication: Effectively communicate expectations, goals, and changes to team members, and collaborate with other supervisors and managers as needed.
Housekeeping: Establish and maintain procedures for maintaining a clean and organized work environment in the fabrication department.
Qualifications: To be successful in this role, you will need:
Fabrication Experience: At least 10 years of experience in fabrication, with a strong understanding of weld parameters, defects, and blueprints.
Leadership Experience: Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in reading blueprints, using measuring tools, and adjusting welding machines.
Safety Consciousness: A clear understanding of safety protocols and a commitment to enforcing safety policies.
Attention to Detail: Ability to prioritize tasks, maintain accuracy, and ensure quality control in a fast-paced environment.
Positive Attitude: A positive attitude towards subordinates and upper management, coupled with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 80lbs and perform physical tasks including bending, twisting, and reaching.
Ability to work in non-climate-controlled environments with varying temperatures.
Ability to remain on feet for extended periods and move about the facility as required.
Responsibilities:
Manage and mentor direct reports, assign tasks, and monitor performance.
Assist in programming and setting up equipment, and prioritize jobs based on skill and machine availability.
Ensure all welding and fabrication work meets approved specifications, quality standards, and deadlines.
Coordinate with other team managers and supervisors to optimize production and inventory management.
Maintain safety procedures and provide ongoing training to shop personnel.
Coordinate material procurement and return, and assist in the hiring process of shop personnel.
Establish and enforce procedures for shop floor housekeeping to maintain a clean and organized work environment.
