We are seeking an experienced and detail-driven Structural Steel Detailer to join our team. This is a critical role where precision and experience directly impact our operations and client satisfaction.
Position Summary:
The Structural Steel Detailer will be responsible for generating fabrication and erection drawings using Tekla Structures and CAD, interpreting architectural and structural drawings, and ensuring compliance with AISC standards. This position plays a key role in maintaining project quality, timelines, and communication across departments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create detailed fabrication and erection drawings for structural and miscellaneous steel components.
- Read and interpret architectural and structural design drawings and specifications.
- Use Tekla Structures to develop and manage 3D models and 2D shop drawings.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and shop personnel to resolve design and fabrication challenges.
- Prepare approval, permit, anchor rod, and installation drawings.
- Manage part uploads and releases through the company’s manufacturing system.
- Ensure accuracy and compliance with AISC standards and client expectations.
- Participate in team meetings and support project planning initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in structural/miscellaneous steel detailing.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Tekla Structures is REQUIRED.
- Strong working knowledge of AISC steel construction and detailing guidelines.
- Familiarity with SolidWorks, or Rhinoceros 3D is a plus.
- Detail-oriented with excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and technical specs.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, PDF and document management tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience detailing steel for commercial, industrial, or custom fabrication projects.
- Understanding of fabrication shop practices.
