As a Material Handler, your primary responsibility will be to facilitate the efficient movement and organization of materials and products within the warehouse. Your role is essential in maintaining a well-organized, safe, and productive warehouse environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Material Handling:
- Receiving: Receive incoming shipments, inspect for damage, and verify the accuracy of quantities against packing lists.
- Inventory Management: Organize and maintain inventory within the warehouse, including labeling, sorting, and stocking materials and products.
- Order Picking: Accurately pick items from inventory using order sheets or electronic picking systems, ensuring that the correct items and quantities are selected.
- Packing and Preparing: Assist in packaging materials securely for shipping and preparing orders for shipment, including labeling and documentation.
- Loading and Unloading: Load and unload trucks, containers, and storage areas efficiently and safely.
Safety and Compliance:
- Safety Procedures: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment and prevent accidents.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance checks on equipment and report any issues to the maintenance department.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of material handling activities, including inventory logs and order fulfillment records.
Warehouse Support:
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other warehouse staff and supervisors to ensure the efficient flow of materials and products.
- Assist with Other Duties: Participate in general warehouse tasks, such as inventory counts and assisting in the packaging and shipping areas as needed.
Qualifications:
- Stand Up forklift experience
- Previous experience as a Material Handler or in a similar warehouse role is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with warehouse operations and procedures.
- Strong attention to safety protocols and operational guidelines.
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift and move heavy items, sometimes in excess of 50 pounds.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new warehouse technologies and processes.
