Position: Quality Inspector
Location: Burlington, NC
Shift: 1st Shift Mon-Fri 8AM-5PM
Pay: $17-$22 Depending on experience
Summary
The Quality Inspector is responsible for performing detailed inspections of products, materials, and components at various stages of the production process to ensure they conform to established quality standards, engineering specifications, and regulatory requirements. This role is critical in preventing defects, ensuring product reliability, and upholding the company's commitment to quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct first-piece, in-process, and final inspections of components, sub-assemblies, and finished products using precision measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges, CMM/optical comparators).
- Accurately read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) specifications, and written work instructions.
- Verify product dimensions, surface finishes, material properties, and functionality against established criteria.
- Record and document inspection results, including measurements, pass/fail status, and detailed descriptions of defects.
- Complete required Quality Control documentation (e.g., inspection reports, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and Certificates of Conformance (CoCs)).
- Maintain organized and legible records for traceability and audit purposes.
- Identify, quarantine, and clearly label non-conforming (rejected) material or product.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to investigate the root cause of defects and recommend corrective actions.
- Monitor production processes and quality control points to ensure compliance with the Quality Management System (QMS), such as ISO 9001.
- Assist with calibration verification of measuring equipment to ensure accuracy.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and reduce scrap/rework.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
- [Specify experience, e.g., 2+ years] of direct experience as a Quality Inspector, QC Technician, or a similar role in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent documentation skills.
- Basic Computer Knowledge, excel, outlook etc.
- Experience with Textile methods is preferred.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while conducting inspections.
- Must have excellent close vision, color distinction, and depth perception to identify small defects.
- Ability to occasionally lift and move components up to [Specify Weight, e.g., 25 pounds].
- May be required to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the manufacturing environment.
