This is a flexible, hands-on role that requires strong mechanical aptitude and a proactive approach to equipment reliability. The Operations Technician will also provide operational support by assisting with and occasionally operating manufacturing equipment, including weaving and coating lines, as production needs require. In addition to the responsibilities outlined below, this role will perform all duties assigned by their supervisor.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance & Operation
• Maintain, repair, troubleshoot, and often operate manufacturing equipment including:
o Weaving equipment
o Coating equipment
o Wind-up equipment
o Packaging equipment
• Perform assigned maintenance tasks while following all company safety standards.
• This position will not perform electrical work without proper credentials or certification.
Preventative Maintenance
• Perform routine preventative maintenance on manufacturing equipment.
• Oil and grease equipment according to maintenance schedules.
• Replace wear parts on a regular schedule and evaluate removed parts for potential reuse.
• Perform daily cleaning of critical equipment components and areas.
• Complete and properly document daily maintenance checklists for each production line.
Responsive Maintenance & Troubleshooting
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and production interruptions.
• Diagnose equipment faults, mechanical failures, and operational issues.
• Address all items documented by other team members on the daily technician issue tracking forms for each production line.
• Replace damaged or worn chains, belts, and other mechanical drive components as required.
Quality Assurance Support
• Conduct thorough shift handoffs with counterpart technicians and operators to identify outstanding or developing equipment issues.
• Perform a minimum of three quality walkthroughs per shift to identify and correct mechanical or process-related quality risks.
• Ensure coating line take-up systems are producing firm, high-quality finished rolls.
• Verify proper warp tension settings and ensure uniform tension across beam width.
Production Efficiency & Manufacturing Support
• Assist with start-up and preparation of new warp setups.
• Provide support to weaving operators to maintain continuous and efficient production.
• Assist doffer operations as needed to minimize downtime and maintain production flow.
Required Qualifications
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability.
• Ability to read and follow maintenance procedures and equipment documentation.
• Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment.
• Willingness to support multiple operational functions as business needs require.
Preferred Qualifications
• Prior experience in industrial manufacturing environments.
• Weaving or textile manufacturing experience.
• Loom troubleshooting or loom fixing experience.
• Experience performing mechanical maintenance on industrial equipment
