Job Description:                 Maintenance TechnicianJob Summary: The Maintenance Department holds primary responsibilities for the repair and preventative maintenance of the building, grounds, and equipment at the company.  This job is a vital element in the MML Food Safety and Operating Procedures programs which require that the assigned specific daily and other scheduled tasks be documented and validated through completion of work orders and maintenance management software.the company operates under the GFSI (Global Food Security Initiative) code.  This international code of standards and operating practices is audited and verified by SQF (Safe Quality Food) and is of primary importance in our operating systems and allows us to sell our flavors worldwide by ensuring the highest standard in food safety and quality.  It is the responsibility of every employee to place food product safety / workplace safety first in our operations, volume of production should never be overshadowed by our programs and procedures.   If an employee should have any question as to the priority of these programs, they may feel free to contact any member of the Company’s SQF team for clarification or support.
Essential Functions of the job are: Maintenance Technicians must have fundamental working knowledge of maintenance skills such as: 
  • Primary:  Basic understanding of Electricity, Welding, Pneumatics, Hydraulics and Plumbing skills in an effort to troubleshoot maintenance issues throughout the facility.
 
  • Primary; Basic computer skills.  Ability to understand and utilize SafeFood360 to record PMs and breakdowns.
 
  • Primary:  Be able to perform and complete assigned work orders. 
 
  • Primary:  Repair facility and equipment as needed.
 
  • Primary:  Perform scheduled preventative maintenance.
 
  • Primary:  Purchase all (as needed and approved) mechanical repair materials and turn in POs to accounting.
 
  • Secondary:  Work with outside contractors and monitor their assigned work and compliance to GMP’s and Company policy.
 
  • Secondary:  Perform other tasks as assigned by Maintenance Supervisor. 
  Entry Qualifications: Facility and Equipment Operations 
  • Technical training or 2 years of on-the-job experience required.
 
  • Must be of 18 years of age in order to meet all workplace and food product safety regulations.
 
  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED Equivalency.  
 
  • Must successfully complete Food Safety and Workplace Safety training courses.
 
  • Must pass the Company prescribed, job specific, “Physical Abilities” testing as well as a pre-employment Physical
 
  • Must complete and pass a pre-employment drug-screen.
 
  • Must be able to work overtime as determined by management.
 
  • Regular attendance is required.
 
  • Must demonstrate the ability to communicate through written instruction and/or data entry.
 
  • Must be able to consistently lift 50 lbs and stand/walk for entirety of scheduled shift.
 
  • Must satisfactorily complete an Application for Employment
 
  • Must satisfactorily complete a reference and background check.
 
  • Must complete the Company’s Confidentiality Agreement
 
  • Must provide identification and already be authorized to be legally employed on an ongoing basis in the United States.
 
  • Must be able to obtain a valid forklift operators license.
 
  • Must have tact and human relations skills in dealing with supervisors and other MML employees.
 
  • Complete any other tasks as assigned by management
 
  • Must have good mathematical abilities.
