Summary: Responsible for providing professional nursing care to clinic patients under supervision of physician and clinical manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1) Participates in the collection of patients general symptoms and condition, including but not limited to: a) Reviews and prepares patient medical record for visit, including looking at the NCIR prior to the visit with all well visits.
b) Collects patients’ symptoms and documents symptoms for physician.
c) Informs physician immediately of patients that present with high acuity symptoms.
d) Understands and follows guidelines and policies for patients in distress.
e) Reports all symptoms appropriately to the physician.
f) Appropriately takes vitals as directed for each visit and documents this in the EMR.
g) Updates all patients’ immunization records.
h) Provides basic patient care as ordered by the physician.
i) Takes temperatures on all patients with each visit.
j) Keeps rooms and work area neat and orderly.
2) Follows physicians’ orders on medication and treatment including but not limited to:
a) Collects all specimens and performs all treatments as ordered by physician.
b) Administers all immunizations and medications as ordered by physician with correct medication calculation, dosage, and site.
c) Prioritizes duties and uses multitasking skills.
d) Documents all activities/interventions, family/patient responses, medication dispensed, immunizations administered, etc. in medical record and/or the immunization registry.
e) Performs walk in immunizations when scheduled, understanding all standing orders of physician.
f) Maintain patient newborn records, information sheets, handouts, prescription pads and paper supplies as needed for physician.
3) Adheres to infection control/safety guidelines, confidentiality policies, and promotes patient wellness.
a) Follows guidelines/regulations set up by OSHA.
b) Follows Clinical policy and procedure manual.
c) Follows all respiratory illness Policies/Procedures.
d.) Follows protocol and policy and procedure manual with all specimen collection.
e.) Provides patients with educational material and communicates physicians’ advice/instructions as ordered by the physician.
4) Understands and follows all policies and procedures established
a) Demonstrates competency on skill level and ability to follow all policies and procedures.
b) Demonstrates competency and ability to understand and follow all physician standing orders in place.
c) Demonstrates appropriate use of universal precautions and PPE.
d) Demonstrates competency and ability to understand and follow laboratory protocol and policies with all specimen collections.
e) Understands and follows all regulations set forth by HIPAA.
5) Demonstrates appropriate behaviors and demeanor that shows professionalism.

6) Works with RN clinical manager, Practice administrator to maintain governmental requirements for the EHR as needed.
a) Attends all meetings/Virtual, in-person and written while staying current on all clinical measures needed to maintain EHR requirements
b) Attend meetings with RN, Practice Administrator as needed to learn current documenting, collection and reporting measures needed to keep EHR in compliance.
c) Follows all guidelines of the documentation needed for EHR compliance.
7) Completes all Mandatory requirements
a) Maintains current license or certification.
b) Maintains current CPR and AED.
c) Stays current on OSHA requirements and all policies created in house to comply with these requirements.
d) Stays current on all respiratory illness Policy requirements.
e) Attends departmental meetings. (Virtually, in person or written)
f) Receives annual influenza vaccine, unless determined unable to receive by PCP.
KNOWLEDGE:
o Knowledge of basic nursing principles and protocols.

o Complete mandatory requirements:
• Education: Fire/Safety, Health and Safety Plan, OSHA, Compliance Program, and department-specific.

ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS:
Combination of office, exam, and other clinical settings. Possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic environment. Includes evening or weekend work. Hepatitis B immunization and PPD required.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS:
Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand conditions. Occasional stressful situations and irregular hours.
EDUCATION: LPN from accredited school of nursing.
REQUIREMENTS: Unrestricted NC State LPN license.
