Position Summary
The HR Generalist is responsible for supporting day-to-day human resources operations across the full employee lifecycle. This role partners closely with leadership to ensure consistent HR practices, compliance with employment laws, and a positive employee experience. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable supporting both office and field-based employees in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations & Support
Serve as a primary point of contact for employee questions related to policies, benefits, and workplace concerns
Support performance management processes, including coaching, corrective action, and documentation
Assist leadership with employee relations matters, investigations, and conflict resolution
Recruiting & Onboarding
Coordinate recruiting activities including job postings, resume screening, interviews, and offers
Manage onboarding processes to ensure a smooth transition for new hires
Maintain accurate employee records and onboarding documentation
HR Administration & Compliance
Maintain personnel files and HRIS data with accuracy and confidentiality
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies
Support audits, reporting, and compliance requirements
Assist with policy development, updates, and communication
Benefits & Payroll Support
Administer employee benefits programs and assist employees with enrollment and questions
Coordinate with payroll providers to ensure accurate employee data, changes, and reporting
Support leave administration including FMLA, ADA accommodations, and other protected leaves
Training & Development
Coordinate employee training programs, certifications, and required compliance training
Support leadership development and employee engagement initiatives
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
3–5 years of HR Generalist experience, preferably in construction, skilled trades, or multi-location environments
Working knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
High level of discretion and professionalism
Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office applications
Preferred Skills
Experience supporting both field and office employees
Familiarity with safety-focused or regulated work environments
Ability to balance compliance, employee advocacy, and business needs
