Job Summary:
The Fabricator is responsible for fabricating, assembling, and preparing metal components and structures according to project specifications, blueprints, and quality standards at Piedmont Metals. This role supports the production of structural systems, miscellaneous metals, frames, and other fabricated parts used in commercial and industrial projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine fabrication requirements.
Measure, mark, cut, and shape metal materials (such as steel, aluminum, or other metals) to required dimensions.
Assemble and fit metal components using welding, bolting, riveting, or other assembly methods.
Use fabrication tools and equipment (hand tools, grinders, saws, press brakes, punches, etc.) safely and effectively.
Perform welding tasks (e.g., Flux-Cored, GMAW) as required for assembly and structural integrity.
Maintain equipment and workspace: clean, organize, and ensure tools are in good working condition.
Follow all safety protocols and company policies to prevent accidents and injuries.
Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals, quality standards, and project deadlines.
Inspect fabricated parts to verify accuracy, quality, and compliance with specifications.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Previous experience in metal fabrication, structural welding, or a similar production role preferred.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and shop specs.
Experience with welding processes (Flux-Cored, MIG, etc.) a plus.
Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and fabrication machinery.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry heavy materials (often 50+ lbs).
Stand, bend, and work on feet for extended periods.
Work in industrial environments with varying noise and temperature levels.
