Job Summary:
The Doffer is responsible for maintaining efficient operations in the weaving and knitting departments by removing and replacing full packages of yarn or fabric. This role supports continuous machine operation by ensuring timely doffing, transporting materials, and assisting operators in keeping production lines running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Remove full boxes from weaving and knitting machines.
- Replace with empty boxes to minimize machine downtime.
- Transport full packages to designated storage or processing areas using carts, trucks, or other equipment.
- Inspect yarn packages and beams for quality, damage, or defects before and after doffing.
- Move yarn from warehouse to individual departments to support continuous machine operations.
- Keep work area clean, organized, and free of obstructions to support safe operations.
- Follow safety guidelines, including proper lifting techniques and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Report any machine malfunctions, material shortages, or safety concerns to supervisors promptly.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Experience in textile manufacturing, weaving, or knitting operations is a plus.
- Ability to perform repetitive lifting and physical tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Good attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, or overtime as required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, carry, and transport yarn packages or beams weighing up to 15lbs
- Standing, walking, bending, and reaching for extended periods.
- Working in a noisy, warm, or lint-heavy environment typical of textile operations.
