Overview: We are seeking a skilled and motivated Controls Engineer to join our team. This role is ideal for an experienced professional passionate about industrial automation and control systems, with a strong focus on PLCs, HMIs, and robot programming. You will work on cutting-edge automation projects across various sectors, delivering solutions that drive innovation and efficiency.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Develop advanced programming for database interfacing, including data logging and machine recipe selection/modification.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (mechanical and electrical engineering) to deliver fully integrated automation systems.
Create control system documentation, including I/O lists, system layouts, and technical manuals.
Perform on-site installation, commissioning, and support of control systems and automation equipment.
Travel up to 25% for equipment installation, commissioning, and customer support.
Capture and document all changes and modifications throughout project lifecycles.
Qualification Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering.
Associate degree with 7+ years of relevant experience will also be considered.
Other experience levels may be considered.
5+ years of experience creating and testing PLC/HMI and motion applications.
Experience programming Allen Bradley and Siemens PLCs and HMIs, as well as machine motion control.
Highly desired: Experience programming Fanuc and Kuka robotics.
Highly desired: Proficiency in Python, C, C++, VB.NET, and VBA.
Experience with HMI/SCADA software such as FTView, Wonderware, iFix, and Ignition.
Knowledge of AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical.
Experience with machine startups at customer job sites.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight timelines.
Strong relationship-building skills with vendors and customers.
Ability to shift priorities and multitask as needed.
