Controls Engineer

Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Controls Engineer to join our team. This role is ideal for an experienced professional passionate about industrial automation and control systems, with a strong focus on PLCs, HMIs, and robot programming. You will work on cutting-edge automation projects across various sectors, delivering solutions that drive innovation and efficiency.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop advanced programming for database interfacing, including data logging and machine recipe selection/modification.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (mechanical and electrical engineering) to deliver fully integrated automation systems.
  • Create control system documentation, including I/O lists, system layouts, and technical manuals.
  • Perform on-site installation, commissioning, and support of control systems and automation equipment.
  • Travel up to 25% for equipment installation, commissioning, and customer support.
  • Capture and document all changes and modifications throughout project lifecycles.

Qualification Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering.
    • Associate degree with 7+ years of relevant experience will also be considered.
    • Other experience levels may be considered.
  • 5+ years of experience creating and testing PLC/HMI and motion applications.
  • Experience programming Allen Bradley and Siemens PLCs and HMIs, as well as machine motion control.
  • Highly desired: Experience programming Fanuc and Kuka robotics.
  • Highly desired: Proficiency in Python, C, C++, VB.NET, and VBA.
  • Experience with HMI/SCADA software such as FTView, Wonderware, iFix, and Ignition.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Experience with machine startups at customer job sites.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight timelines.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with vendors and customers.
  • Ability to shift priorities and multitask as needed.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
