Our Greensboro client is a leader in manufacturing measurement solutions technology and has an immediate DIRECT HIRE career opportunity for an experienced Design Engineer. This is a NEW position as they are growing their engineering team to support their Fortune 500 customer base. Summary:In this role, you will report to the Senior Product Engineer, and support and assist development and implementation of engineering projects. Design Engineer will provide accurate drawing submittals, CAD models, concept sketches in the planning and execution stages. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including internal and external customer stakeholders to ensure the highest quality engineering solutions. Key Responsibilities:
Develop detailed CAD models, drawings and concept sketches to support project requirements and objectives
Assist Project Engineering in managing and coordinating engineering projects from concept to completion
Work with teams to prioritize and gather information for new product development and feature enhancements
Provide technical support in designing and developing electro-mechanical components and systems
Contribute to review and analysis of design feasibility, cost effectiveness and compliance with manufacturing standards
Create and maintain CAD library to ensure alignment with current and future projects
Support production team by providing detailed BOM's and technical knowledge for assembly and manufacturing processes
Carry out continuous improvement initiatives via recommendations of design modifications and technological advancements
Review documentation for accuracy including maintaining and updating engineering drawings and specifications
Follow all safety protocols, company guidelines, and regulatory compliance standards
Participate in on call customer issues after hours as needed
Required:
B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline with strong mechanical design abilities
Minimum of 2-10 years of experience in mechanical design with focus on CAD and technical drawings and strong use of design tools. MUST have experience in manufacturing industry. Machinery technology a plus
Proficiency in AutoCAD SolidWorks, or other similar CAD software, MS Office
Experience with quality systems (ISO 9000, TS16949) and lean manufacturing principles
Strong verbal/written/presentation skills and team collaborative
Attention to detail and problem solving abilities
Ability to travel occasionally as necessary (very limited)
