The CNC Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring CNC-controlled production equipment to manufacture high-quality aluminum components according to engineering specifications and work instructions. This role requires strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and experience working in a CNC manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate CNC machines to produce aluminum components meeting quality and dimensional requirements
Load raw material and secure parts using appropriate fixturing and workholding methods
Make offset adjustments and tool changes as needed to maintain part quality
Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and job travelers
Use precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) to verify dimensions and tolerances
Perform in-process inspections and document quality checks per procedures
Monitor machine performance and troubleshoot basic issues related to tooling, materials, or machine operation
Perform routine preventive maintenance and keep machines clean and organized
Meet production targets while maintaining quality and safety standards
Accurately enter production data and inspection results into computer-based systems
Follow all safety, environmental, and quality procedures
Qualifications
Prior experience operating CNC machines in a manufacturing environment
Ability to read blueprints and understand basic GD&T concepts
Experience using precision measuring instruments
Basic understanding of CNC offsets, tooling, and machine controls
Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
Comfortable working in a production-focused environment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with CNC mills, lathes, or multi-axis machines
Familiarity with aluminum machining
CNC certification or technical training
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for most of the shift
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
Ability to bend, stoop, push, pull, and perform repetitive motions
Comfortable working around industrial machinery and equipment
