2nd Shift Shear /Deburr JOB DESCRIPTION: Must set up and operate CNC shear to cut various types and gauges of sheet metal to specified dimensions and angle. Must set up and operate CNC Deburr Machine. Positions and clamps stops and side guides to set length and angle of cut, using rule and gauges. Manually positions sheet metal to bed and against side guide and end stops. Presses pedal to lower blade and cut metal. Operates edger to remove burrs on sheet stock over 10 inches in length. Receive and record flat sheet stock in log and store in proper rack. Must be able to prepare sheet metal components for further processing using hammer and block to remove buckles and a disc grinder to remove burrs. Align metal grain with abrasive disc to help achieve proper finish. Selects abrasive disc according to grain size, type of finish specified, or amount of metal to be removed, using knowledge of polishing operations and abrasives. Hand sands edges of sheet metal components to remove burrs and marks. Must use unishear and/or notching die for notching sheet-metal for preparation in the press brake operation. Makes radius cuts. Often uses power nibblers for similar purposes. Must be licensed and able to drive fork lift equipment. Perform other associated responsibilities as directed.
Requirements: EDUCATION Perform Addition, subtraction work from drawings, uses measuring instruments and gauges.
EXPERIENCE Over three months experience in general sheet metal work. Requires the use of some judgment to comply with instructions or prescribed routines. Must check to see that metal is sheared to proper angle.
PHYSICAL DEMAND Moderate physical effort handling and positioning average weight materials and occasionally heavy weight materials with a helper.
