2nd Shift Machine Operator
*Previous experience working with metals is preferred*
Summary:
The Machine Operator responsible for programming, setting up, and operating machinery used in the fabrication and assembly of ductwork components, including plasma cutting, sheet metal shear, various types of metal rolls, press brakes, saws, Pipe press, spot tack, power rotary swedge machine, and punches. This role involves ensuring the efficient and safe operation of equipment, adhering to safety & quality standards, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot and maintain production schedules.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Machine Operation: Operate various machines involved in the manufacturing process, which may include shearing machines, bending machines, spot welding machines, and other equipment used in ductwork fabrication.
2. Setup and Calibration: Set up machines according to specifications for each ductwork component, including adjusting machine settings, loading materials, and performing calibration checks.
3. Quality Control: Monitor the production process to ensure that ductwork components meet quality standards and specifications, including dimensions, tolerances, and finish.
4. Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks on machinery, including cleaning, lubricating, replacing consumable parts and troubleshooting issues to ensure optimal performance and prevent downtime.
5. Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment and following lockout/tagout procedures.
6. Production Schedule: Work with supervisors and production planners to prioritize tasks and meet production schedules, including coordinating machine setups and changeovers as needed.
7. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of production activities, including machine settings, production counts, and quality inspections, to support traceability and quality assurance efforts.
8. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains, including suggesting modifications to equipment, workflows, or procedures to optimize productivity and quality.
9. Team Collaboration: Collaborate with colleagues, including managers, quality inspectors, and production supervisors, to ensure smooth workflow and effective problem-solving.
Qualifications:
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a machine operator in a manufacturing environment, preferably with experience in metal fabrication or ducting industry.
• Familiarity with various types of machinery used in ductwork manufacturing, including shearing, bending, punching, and welding equipment.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications for ductwork components.
• Strong attention to detail and quality consciousness to ensure accurate and consistent production.
• Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve equipment issues.
• Math skills and proficiency with tape measures, converting measurements (Decimals/Fractions), and other measurement tools (calipers).
• Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime as needed to meet production demands.
• Utmost attention and adherence to safety, quality, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment.
• Physical demands include standing, walking, reaching, hearing, visual tasks, occasional climbing, bending/kneeling, fine dexterity, manual dexterity, lifting/carrying up to 35 lbs., and pushing/pulling up to 25 lbs.
• Comfortable with frequent task changes, shift rotations, tedious/exacting work, exposure to dust, loud noises and with no phone usage during shift (for non-emergency personal reasons).
• High school diplomas or GED.• Other duties assigned as needed.
Pay Range: $19 - $24/HR, based on experience.
Schedule: 3:30pm – 1am with overtime as needed
