MIG Welder/Fabricator Light Gauge
Summary:
We're seeking skilled MIG Welder/Fabricators with a minimum of 2 years' experience in sheet metal fabrication. The ideal candidate will be proficient in reading blueprints, operating hand, and power tools, and welding light gauge (16/18ga), materials including galvanized metal, carbon, and stainless steel. Attention to detail, a commitment to quality, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team are essential. Proficiency in operating fabrication machinery such as press brakes, roll formers, bead machines, spot tack machines, and drill presses is a plus. Basic math skills and the ability to lift heavy objects are required, along with a strong work ethic and flexibility with working hours.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:Interpreting Blueprints and Fabrication:
• Analyze drawings and blueprints to understand specifications and requirements.
• Utilize a combination of hand tools, power tools, and machinery to fabricate items accurately.
Welding Proficiency:
• Demonstrate expertise in welding various materials, with a focus on galvanized metal, following established procedures.
• Perform MIG welding techniques on carbon and stainless steel, ensuring high-quality welds.
Equipment Operation & Fabrication Tools Usage:
• Operate equipment such as hand brakes or hydraulic brake presses as necessary to shape and form materials.
• Utilize a range of general fabrication tools including tape measures, protractors, and calipers to ensure accuracy in fabrication processes.
Blueprint Reading and Math Skills:
• Read and interpret basic blueprints and work orders, applying fundamental math skills to understand measurements and dimensions.
Physical Tasks:
• Perform physical tasks such as lifting materials weighing up to 80lbs.
Flexibility in Working Hours:
• Demonstrate flexibility in work schedules to accommodate varying production demands and deadlines.
MIG Welding Expertise:
• Ensure proficiency in MIG welding techniques, meticulously maintaining industry standards and specifications.
• Conduct thorough inspections of welds to identify and address any defects, ensuring structural integrity and quality.• Ability to weld light gauges – from 16/18ga to 24ga+ - Capable of MIG welding 18-gauge material through ¼ plate
Preparation of Materials & Fabrication of Metal Components:
• Prepare materials for welding by cutting, grinding, and fitting components according to project specifications.
• Fabricate metal components and structures according to provided blueprints and specifications, ensuring precision and accuracy in assembly.
Preferred Skills (Not Required):
• Operation of an ironworker (Geka/Piranha)
• Experience with a beader (power rotary swedge machine), and spot tack machine.
• Proficiency in operating a band saw and drill press.
Visual Inspections:
• Conduct visual inspections of welded joints to verify weld quality and adherence to standards.
Safety Adherence:
• Adhere strictly to safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment for oneself and team members.
Collaboration and Troubleshooting:
• Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot and solve problems that arise during fabrication processes.
Quality Assurance Compliance:
• Ensure strict compliance with company quality assurance requirements, maintaining high standards of workmanship and product quality.
Qualifications:
• Strong Work Ethic: Demonstrates a commitment to consistent attendance and maximum effort.
• Flexibility: Willingness to work various schedules (week to week).
• Adaptability: Flexible to work late hours or weekends as required by production demands.
• Familiarity with Hand Tools: Comfortable using calipers and other small hand tools, as well as measurement equipment.
• Mathematical Skills: Ability to convert between feet and inches, and vice versa. Proficient in converting fractions to decimals and possesses good basic math skills.
• Measurement Proficiency: All candidates must have a 16-foot tape measure and the ability to read it accurately.
• Welding Ability: Capable of MIG welding 18-gauge material through ¼ plate.
Physical Requirements:
• Weld Test Requirements:• Applicant must pass a welding test comprising butt weld, T-joint, and circumference weld.• Applicant should bring necessary welding equipment including a welding shield, hammer, and vice grips.
• Ability to lift up to 80lbs and perform physical tasks including bending, twisting, stooping, and reaching at or above shoulder level.
• Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment.
• Ability to remain on their feet in an upright position and/or move about on foot for the duration of their shift.
Schedule: 7am-3:30/4pm Monday-Friday with overtime as needed
Pay: $20+/hour Based on experience
